What noise is prohibited in Moscow

What is prohibited at night, when renovation is banned, which noise limits apply and what regulates them.

Main rules

In Moscow, disturbing residents' peace at night from 23:00 to 07:00 is prohibited. Separate restrictions apply to renovation work: noisy renovation is prohibited from 19:00 to 09:00, from 13:00 to 15:00, and on Sundays and non-working public holidays.

What counts as noise

loud music, television, parties;
shouting, stomping, persistent banging;
renovation, drilling, wall chasing, demolition;
loading and unloading;
operation of equipment, ventilation and air conditioners;
impaired floor sound insulation.
